www.pokerstars.com
In December of 2004, PokerStars.com because the largest online poker site in the world according to poker site traffic monitor, pokerscout.com. They took over the hugely popular and market leader, PartyPoker.com when US lawmakers snuck in last minute a stipulation into a ‘must pass’ bill late in the game called the UIGEA which of course Bush signed into law right away. Party Poker was traded on the London Stock Exchange and decided to pull out of the US market after Bush signed the bill into law in October of 2006. PokerStars, and sites like FullTiltPoker.com are not publicly traded companies and operate and serve USA players. This USA pull out left a void in the online poker world that www.PokerStars.com rushed to fill.
Even before Party pulled out of the USA, I played most of my poker online at PokerStars.com. I’ve been playing there since late 2004 and have always enjoyed the smooth game play of their software, the reliability and security of the poker room, the customer service and the safety of deposits.

PokerStars.com Pro Poker Player Endorsers
The most well known online poker pro that endorses poker stars is arguably Daniel Negreanu, although some might argue Barry Greenstein or Greg Raymer might be more well known. Who knows actually, more people might know of Chris Moneymaker, who qualified at Poker Stars in a $40 satellite in the 2004 World Series, and went on to win it.

Poker Stars.com vs PokerStars.net
If you watch the World Series of Poker you have probably seen the advertisements for the “.net” version of the online poker rooms. Since there is debate over the legality of advertising real
money online poker, the online poker rooms have moved to advertise and offer a free version of
their poker software. The thing is, you can play poker completely for free, for play money chips, whenever you want at the “.com” versions of the poker rooms.
- Both “PokerStars.com” and “PokerStars.net” offer 100% free download
- Both offer 100% free money play
- “.net” only allowed advertised at poker events (wpt, wsop, etc.)
- “.com” version allows real money play, aka real poker.
- “.com” offers a Poker Stars download bonus.
- “.net” on all the poker gear at the major poker events, TV commercials and other major media outlets like major sporting events.
Back when Party Poker was a USA Friendly online poker room, they were probably the best known online poker room in the world, partly due to the excellent Party Poker.net advertisements that used to be on during every round of commercials during the WPT
and ESPN broadcasts.
